Meet Nicky, a Personal Performance Coach and personal friend of mine. When Nix asked if I could do a personal branding photo shoot for her I was thrilled. She needed some new images for her website and to use on social media. Based in South West London we started the shoot in the morning at her home and then moved out to Cannizaro Park for some lovely out door Autumnal shots.
After filling out a questionnaire that I supply to my personal branding clients there were 3 key elements she wanted to incorporate into her shoot
Professional – having a personal branding shoot is a great way to elevate your brand and make you look more professional.
Fun & Free– This is a key element, as she would like to emphasize a holistic approach to coaching.
Relaxed & Approachable – As a coach, clients need to feel that they can trust in you, to confide in you to help their own personal development.
I tried to incorporate these words into her photography so that we could really show off her brand and whom she is.
With hair and make up starting off the show – we got a few casual ones just to tell the story of the day, not necessarily for her to use on her website, but to capture the experience so that we could use them across social media. I often start taking pictures when I arrive of everyone getting ready and of what is happening in the room. It helps relax everyone and get him or her used to being photographed way before the shoot even starts.
I like to use natural light for my personal branding shoots, however living in the UK, this can be a little tricky at times as the daylight in winter doesn’t last very long and on some of the grey days it is difficult to get enough light. I have a natural daylight lamp that I use to help bump up the daylight and give a natural glow to the images as if we are using window light. It keeps the image light and fresh.
I often capture the details at a personal branding shoot. I recommend that you have items to incorporate that work well with your brand and its colour pallet.
I allow time for outfit changes and we utilized all the rooms in Nix’s home to ensure she had a nice variety of images.
After a light lunch we headed off to Cannazaro Park for some of the images that help represent a work/life balance, which is an important part of coaching.
